Mezzanine Floor

A mezzanine is a building element that is built subject to certain conditions. It can be built in sections with a distance of at least 5.50 meters between the floor and the ceiling. Its height must be at least 2.40 meters. It is connected to the floor with a staircase and can cover at most half of the floor area. It can be designed to be maximum 3 meters away from the facade of the building facing the road.

This structure can be used for many purposes. It is mostly designed to be an open space, not like a room. It is mostly included in the building plan in offices, bungalows and workplaces serving crowded groups of people (restaurants, cafes, etc.).

Mezzanine floors are divided into three in terms of design:

Ceiling supported mezzanine:
The structure is suspended from the ceiling with the help of steel ropes, ship ropes or iron profiles. Structures of this type should be suspended with materials that can support the weight they will carry. It is mostly seen in home and office or bungalow style buildings.

Beam supported mezzanine floor:
It is designed to be connected to wall beams on three sides. It is common in show halls and cafeterias.

Column supported mezzanine:
It is constructed by placing support columns connected to the ground under the structure. In addition to the support columns connected to the ground, a wall beam can also be used for support. It is widely used in mosque design.
